As the smart home market continues to grow, users need to connect more devices, something that will change with the arrival of Matter. And to try to help with the task, Samsung has launched its own proposal to connect a more significant number of devices: the SmartThings Station arrives.
Samsung has taken advantage of the last CES fair in Las Vegas to present the SmartThings Station, a smart home hub that also serves as a fast charging base. A device that allows users to automate different aspects of their home environment, establishing routines that go from lights to electrical appliances.
With Matter and wireless charging base
With shapes reminiscent of a modern Apple TV, the SmartThings Station is a Matter-certified smart home hub that Samsung says is easy to set up and makes it easy to connect and interoperate multiple devices. When turned on for the first time, setup guide messages appear on the user’s Samsung Galaxy smartphone. And thanks to the mobile camera devices can be efficiently incorporated with just scan a QR code.

This hub works as a brain for connect devices of all kindsincluding thermostats, lighting, plugs… so they all work together to create a harmonized environment through preset routines created through the SmartThings mobile app.
So, the users they can activate a routine created in their SmartThings app just by pressing the Smart Button (smart button) in SmartThings Station. Consumers can activate up to three different routines with a single press of the Smart Button, with short, long or double touch activations. Routines can also be activated through the SmartThings app, whether people are home or away.

Also, this hub allows use as a search engine thanks to the SmartThings Find service from Samsung, an asset tracking service that helps users find lost devices and track the locations of their registered devices, from smartphones, tablets, watches and headphones to personal items like keys or a wallet with a Galaxy device SmartTag or SmartTag.
SmartThings Station too works as a wireless charging base that supports wireless charging up to 15W that can even send an alert when charging is complete.
Price and availability
The SmartThings Station will launch in the United States and South Korea at the beginning of February 2023 at a price not yet known.
