Amazon has taken advantage of its latest presentation to show us new devices for the smart home. Although we have already talked about the new Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max, as well as the new generation of Echo Show 8, the firm has also prepared the launch of a completely new device that was created to manage the control of the rest of the devices: the Echo Hub.
The company officially presents a new dashboard with which to control and manage any other smart home device, serving as a touch panel that we can place on the wall of our house and thus have control of all our devices from a single place. Below these lines we tell you all the information.
A place where we can control all our devices
Given the characteristics of this device, it is surprising how at this point the company has not yet launched a device with such capabilities. Yes, we know that Echo Shows exist, or the tablets themselves with Fire OS. However, Amazon wanted to welcome a new device to which we can delegate control of our devices.
The Echo Hub aims to make it easier for the user to manage and control smart home devices. And it does so with an exclusive operating system, offering an easier and more intuitive interface for managing all our devices.
The idea is that this touch screen is always operational and plugged into the light in our house to always have a place where we can control any smart device that we have in our ecosystem.
The home panel is completely customizable, allowing users group and manage all your devices, with controls to easily modify any parameter. From the Echo Hub we can turn lights on or off, control the thermostat, see the signal from our security cameras, raise and lower blinds, and much more. Everything, of course, centered to also be controlled with Alexa.
The Echo Hub is installed on the wall, although it also has a desktop stand that can be purchased independently. In addition, the device has an infrared system that detects when the user is nearby to activate the panel.
This device is also compatible with Zigbee, Thread, Matter and Bluetooth, so it serves as a great Hub to integrate any smart device into our ecosystem. In addition, the Echo Hub supports both wireless Internet connection and wired connection using a compatible power-over-Ethernet adapter.
The Echo Hub also has speakers, although they are not as powerful as those of an Echo Show, a factor that can make the difference when choosing which device to place in which area of our house.
Price and availability
Amazon puts the Echo Hub on sale at a price of 199.99 euros. However, we still do not know an official sale date, although customers can now register to be notified when it goes on sale.
The device will also be released with a series of decorative frames, available in white, light wood and metallic, in addition to the desktop stand that is sold separately.
