OpenAI is refining GPT-5, its next language model. And according to big boss Sam Altman, it will significantly outperform GPT-4 in all areas, propelling us into a new era of increased productivity.
While the world is only beginning to tame generative AI, OpenAI is active on all fronts. The company has just unveiled Sora, its new model capable of creating stunningly realistic videos from a simple prompt. The firm is also working hard on the successor to GPT-4 Turbo, the language model that currently powers ChatGPT (for Plus subscribers, others having to make do with GPT-3.5).
The aptly named GPT-5 would be much more powerful than its predecessor. This is the promise of Sam Altman who has just made new revelations at the World Government Summit. According to the executive, the future model will outperform GPT-4 in all areas. “The essence of GPT-5’s advancement lies in its general intelligence, which promises improvements in virtually every task it undertakes,” he assures.
GPT-5 would outperform GPT-4 in all areas
Smarter, faster, more efficient… We obviously expected this next iteration to outperform GPT-4. Otherwise what would be the point of releasing it? But Sam Altman insists on one point: “This will not be a simple upgrade, but a new frontier in AI’s ability to understand, interact and help”.
And the manager makes a comparison with the first mobile phones. “We’re past the novelty of making calls. Today we turn our attention to AI technologies iPhone 16”, he explains. Promising statements which were, however, not punctuated by an announcement on the release date of the new model. It is rumored that it could arrive this year but for the moment these are only unconfirmed rumors.
