Leakers are tuning their violins regarding the PS5 Pro. While the technical sheet shared by Moore’s Law Is Dead seemed too good to be true, the media Insider Gaming came to confirm this information with the additional confirmation of a release date.
Yesterday, we titled our article about a major leak with a very careful question mark: “The PS5 Pro twice as powerful as the PS5 with exceptional ray tracing?”. We wouldn’t want to give false hope to you, our readers, when so many so-called leakers are running around the streets, claiming unrivaled performance for each new product to anyone who will listen.
Insider Gaming, represented by the famous Tom Henderson, came to put an end to our doubts. This confirms the information shared by Moore’s Law Is Dead. While affirming that the technical sheet described is reliable, he adds his own information: Sony is targeting a release of the PS5 Pro before Christmas 2024.
Tom Henderson confirms leaked PS5 Pro datasheet
The journalist has an impeccable record: in 2022, he claimed that Sony was working on a “real professional controller” for the PS5, two months before the official announcement of the DualSense Edge. The man has his entries everywhere in the video game industry, notably at Sony. Tom Henderson has already released a lot of information about the PS5 Pro and we have no reason to believe that he is not telling the truth.
According to Insider Gaming, the information obtained by Moore’s Law Is Dead comes from an official technical document from Sony! This would be documentation sent to the studios with the development kit for the console, which the YouTuber would have managed to obtain.
As a reminder, Moore’s Law Is Dead indicates that the PS5 Pro would be 45% faster than the current PS5. A performance that the PS5 Pro could achieve thanks to its 33.5 TFLOPS GPU. It would also offer ray tracing of a quality two to three times higher than its predecessor, as well as sampling technology similar to Nvidia’s DLSS. Tantalizing.

Information confirmed by Insider Gaming who also received the same documentation. The media releases the following additional characteristics:
- Support for resolutions up to 8K for a future developer kit release.
- Custom machine learning architecture.
- AI accelerator, supporting 300 TOPS of 8-bit calculation / 67 TFLOPS in 16-bit floats.
The developer kits would be available to Sony studios (victims of a wave of layoffs recently) since September 2023. Third-party studios would have access to them since January 2024. In the spring, the test kits will be available, almost identical to the final product: concretely, slightly modified PS5 Pros.
