Apple sees a global company. Not only because of the regions in which it operates, but because of the places where the manufacturing of its products takes place. Until now, the Cupertino company’s relations with the Asian continent have been very close. China, Taiwan, India and Vietnam are some of its most important points for the manufacturing and assembly of its devices. But now, it brings closer positions with a country, at a time and for reasons that we are going to tell you in this post.
Although Apple is a company that was born in a garage in the United States, over the years it has opened up to new countries and strategic partners with which to manufacture and assemble its different product lines. Precisely, the country where they were born, the United States, is the place where ideas are designed and born, but do not materialize. Or at least, this was what was happening until now, since Apple wants to start producing and packaging a product that they presented this year.
Of everything that Apple has shown in society this first time, there is a product that is actually a component, but that has been given a weight and importance that it did not have until now. These are Apple Silicon processors, which have changed a lot more this year, thanks to the M3 chips. And regarding the business movement that is going to be carried out, that is where the shots go.
Apple will start producing Apple Silicon in the United States
As reported by the English-speaking news outlet MacRumors, Apple wants to produce Apple Silicon in a new location that is currently under construction, in Peroria, Arizona. “The processors will be produced near the TSMC factory, and then packaging will be done by Amkor.” Amkor is one of Apple’s strategic partners, which has been dedicated to packaging the apple company’s processors for more than a decade, as explained by MacRumors.
This movement that the company will carry out, still without a specific date, will involve an investment of 2 billion dollars and will provide work for more than 2,000 people. All this has been known thanks to a statement from Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, in a press release that he has released.
It is not the first time that Apple manufactures in the United States
Although Apple has made this move, it is not the first time that Apple has manufactured a product on a large scale in the United States. It was in 2019, when due to the country’s protectionist economic policies, they began to manufacture the Mac Pro model at home. In this case it only applied to orders that were placed and shipped within the United States.
In this case, it is not known how long this movement will last, nor when this new project will begin, in which Apple will begin to produce and package these own processors, in the country where they were born.
