As the release date of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth approaches on PS5, a question arises on everyone’s lips: could the sequel to FFVII Remake be released one day on PC? Yes, and a message in this week’s State of Play video indicates when.
Before Summer Game Fest 2023, an enigmatic countdown was launched by Square Enix. Every day, a new image was revealed, accompanied by a banal question and an innocuous answer. Finally, the Japanese publisher behind Final Fantasy ended up revealing a crazy trailer for FF7 Rebirth.
Since then, other trailers have followed and this week, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was entitled to a State of Play just for itself. Square Enix unveiled a long 19-minute video, with a sequence of no less than 11 minutes of highly promising gameplay.
The video confirmed the release date Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth : February 29, 2024, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Huge disappointment for Xbox and PC players. But in the last seconds of the video, a message suggested that the Japanese action-RPG could quickly follow on these two platforms.
FFVII Rebirth could be released on Xbox and PC from May 29, 2024
The message displayed at the end of the trailer stated: “not available on other media until at least May 29, 2024 “. This is the date when fans of Cloud on PC could get their hands on the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remakereleased in 2015.

Be careful, however, this date probably only evokes a legal possibility. Square Enix and Sony have signed a temporary exclusivity contract, which reserves this long-awaited game for the PlayStation manufacturer. This is the same way Sony is doing with Konami: Metal Gear Solid 3 remake and Silent Hill 2 will also be PS5 exclusives initially.
To see how long the development of the port will take. FFVII Remake took its time to arrive on PC. Released in 2015 on PS4, the game was then entitled to a next-gen remaster in 2020 for the PS5, before finally being released on PC in 2021. FF7 Remake was never released on Xbox, neither One, nor Series X/ S. As Final Fantasy 14 arrives on Xbox thirteen years after its releasewe should not place too many hopes on a release of FF7 Rebirth on the Microsoft console.
In the meantime for PlayStation players, it’s party time. The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 demo has leaked, revealing that they will finally be able to play as Sephiroth.
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is currently announced as a PlayStation exclusive.
- No other platform will be eligible for the game before May 29, 2024.
- From this date, a PC port could be released, the Xbox seems less likely.
