Apple is planning to announce updates to some of its products during the first half of 2024. At least, this is what Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, in their latest weekly news bulletin. The journalist highlights that the company could launch new iPad and MacBook Air with M3 and finally put on sale the Apple Vision Pro early next year.
Apple, specifically, would be working on the iPad Pro and iPad Air update for March 2024. These two models will also arrive with important differences between them to avoid confusion among consumers and make it even more obvious which model is more superior, since currently both have very similar characteristics.
Gurman assures that the iPad Pro will arrive with a OLED screen in two different sizes: 11 and 13 inches. They are, therefore, somewhat larger than the current iPad Pro (which are 10.9 and 12.9 inches). The 2024 iPad Air will also arrive in two sizes for the first time. In this case, with 10.9 and 12.9 inch screens. It will also maintain LCD technology.
Apple’s iPad Pro, on the other hand, will arrive with a M3 chip, while next year’s iPad Air will feature an M2 chip. Although it is not the company’s most recent processor, it does represent a significant leap in performance. The current Air model, remember, has an M1 chip.
Apple will also launch new MacBook Air and the Apple Vision Pro
In March, Apple will also launch new MacBook Air with M3 chip. The company currently catalogs them with codes J613 and J615, which belong to the 13 and 15-inch models respectively. According to Gurman, the only new feature of these devices will be the new processor. The M3 chip is already present in the base version of the MacBook Pro, and has important advantages over the M2 that the current MacBook Air includes. Among them, better performance and greater efficiency.
With this, Apple will have almost the entire Mac catalog updated to the latest processors. All, except Mac Pro and Mac Studio, which have an M2 Ultra chip. Gurman, however, states that these devices would not be updated until the end of 2024.
Finally, Gurman states that, internally, Apple is planning to launch the Vision Pro on sale in January 2024. The company has already confirmed that its virtual reality and augmented reality headset would go on sale “in early 2024”, but the journalist from Bloomberg said a few weeks ago that the headset would be delayed to “sometime around March.”
