It was back in the spring when we announced that the Philips Hue Matter update I was not going to arrive on time. Users of the product range could forget, at least temporarily, about the integration with the products of other brands.
And now, coinciding with the celebration of the German electronics fair, the IFA, the brand has announced something highly anticipated. It has taken time, but throughout the month of September, which we have just launched, the Matter update for the Hue Bridge will be rolled out and the compatibility of your devices will start.
Hue Bridge is the key
The Hue Bridge is the brain that controls all the devices in the Hue range and hence the importance of this Matter support. Once this device is capable of integrating with the new open protocol, it will be a matter of a short time that brand devices will be added.
We talk about all kinds of Illumination systems (lamps, light bulbs, LED strips…) but also of sensors, switches… even the surveillance cameras introduced by Philips will also integrate with Matter. Before it will arrive, however, support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Note that the update to support Matter will make it even easier to network Philips Hue products with devices from other brandsalso compatible with Matter.
For now, the only option to try Matter in the Hue ecosystem before anyone else is through take part in the testing program and create a developer account to access the betas.
