If the reports that have recently emerged are correct, The Apple Watch Series 10 will be the biggest renewal of the wearable in many years. Not only in terms of functions, but also in design. However, it is possible that this change of look comes accompanied by bad news: currently available straps would not be compatible with the next generation of the watch.
According @KosutamiSanwho in the past has proven to have reliable information about upcoming developments in Apple’s line of accessories, those from Cupertino are working on a redesign of the mechanism that allows the straps to be attached to the device. For this reason, it would lose compatibility with previous generations.
“The next-generation Apple Watch connectors have been completely redesigned. If you have old bands, better sell them. That’s 100% correct.”
To some extent, this report should not surprise us. During August, Mark Gurman, journalist for Bloomberg and one of the most reliable sources on future Apple products, revealed that the also known as Apple Watch X will debut a new design. That would also impact the strap fastening system.
One of the options that have been explored is a magnetic mechanism. This, in addition to making it easier to attach or remove a strap, would take up much less space. The above would help the Apple Watch Series 10 have a more stylized design and, of course, there would be more room for internal components. Those led by Tim Cook could, for example, integrate a larger battery.
“People involved in the development of the new Apple Watch say the system takes up a smaller amount of space that could be filled with a larger battery or other components.”
The problem, of course, is that all these new features will leave existing straps forgotten. If this becomes a reality, there will be widespread discontent.
One of the many advantages of the Apple Watch is, precisely, its compatibility with old straps. Many people have changed the generation of their watch, but keeping the straps to expand their collection. With a redesigned Apple Watch Series 10, we will have to start that collection from scratch…
Beyond the new look, the Apple Watch Watch 10 will also boast two widely anticipated features. The first is the blood pressure meter, on which Apple has been working for years. It has not been easy to develop it, of course, since it involves integrating a fairly complex mechanism into a very small device. It seems, then, that Apple managed to overcome those obstacles. On the other hand, we have the sleep apnea detectora disorder in which breathing stops.
If Apple follows the same roadmap as previous years, the Apple Watch Series 10 will be presented during September 2024. It will mark an important moment in the history of the smart watch, since, as already mentioned, the new features introduced in recent years have not convinced many to update their device. That could change next year with a finally redesigned model…
