in 2023 there will be a solution to its biggest problem

2022 has been the year of QD-OLED TVs. Both Samsung and Sony have already shown what this technology can be capable of through their S95B and A95K respectively. These panels, manufactured by Samsung, they offer all the best of OLED, while also managing to overcome some of its disadvantagessuch as the delivery of brightness.

However, everything indicates that we still need to discover the full potential that this technology can offer us. At the moment, the proposals of the mentioned companies offer sizes of 55 and 65 inches. Nevertheless, the market is trending towards the manufacture of even larger sizes, so today it is not uncommon to see televisions larger than 65 inches in a living room. It seems that this will have a solution from next year, since during CES 2023 we would see the first 77-inch QD-OLED televisions, and Samsung would already be preparing.

Larger QD-OLED and reaching “pure black”

As mentioned in a report by ETNews, Samsung Electronics would present its first 77-inch QD-OLED TV during CES 2023offering an alternative to the existing panels of the same size with W-OLED technology, which have sizes that reach up to 97 inches.

However, in addition to the size, perhaps one of the highlights has to do with the fact that next-generation QD-OLED panels will offer deeper black levelscompared to the existing ones, which tend to transform the low light of the pixels adjacent to an illuminated area, making the black take on a more grayish tone.

Samsung's QD-OLED Smart TVs have made one thing clear in 2022: innovation doesn't have to cost a fortune

Apparently, Samsung would have registered the “True Black” trademark for its next televisions, which makes us think that they would greatly improve their contrast and black levels, and could be even more of a tough competitor with the W-OLED panels that LG makes.

Although the features that their next televisions will include are unknown, they are expected to offer 4K resolution, HDR, Tizen as an operating system, HDMI 2.1, and features similar to what Samsung already offers with its current series.

The QD-OLED would also reach other manufacturers. In fact, Philips is already considering using this type of panel for its next televisions, so we only have to wait to see what other companies offer.

If we analyze the news in monitors, the QD-OLED is already a technology present in one of the most complete Alienware models, and in 2023 it is expected that the offer of OLED monitors will be much broader.

Samsung is expected to offer more details of its new 77-inch QD-OLED TV during CES 2023, an event to be held next January in Las Vegas.
