Buying a Smart TV, apart from sometimes being a significant outlay and a purchase that must be studied, is also the opportunity to bring home a multimedia center. Today’s televisions are far from those silly boxes of yesteryear and thanks to complex operating systems, we can have a kind of computer with a built-in screen in the living room. And how good computer equipment, apps are the key.

In my case, when a new television arrives at home, there are a series of steps that I carry out to take care of its health. In addition, I take care of tuning and ordering the TV channels, setting the appropriate values for image and sound and downloading applications (and not in this order) is what I always do. And of all the apps I end up installing, there is one that is always the first and that can never be missing on a TV… At least from my point of view.

Kodi “the essential”

For a few years now, all the Smart TVs that have passed through my house or my parents’ house have Android TV or Google TV as their operating system. For this reason, they share a series of characteristics and one of them is the possibility of installing applications from the Google Play Store. An app store where I find one that is essential to me.

Beyond the typical applications for streaming, which all of us come to mind (there are Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, HBO Max…) or other complementary applications, there is one that for me is basic and that it’s Kodi. A tool for turn the TV into a powerful multimedia center for the living room.

An app, Kodiwhich already has the RC2 version of Kodi 20 Nexus ready and can be downloaded from the Play Store although it is still in version 19, Matrix, and also without going through the application store using the Kodi website.

Kodi is a very popular application because it allows you to have, in a single app, both a fairly solvent file explorer and a complex and powerful multimedia center in which to access both files that we have locally and video or audio on-demand services.

21 essential applications for your Smart TV and that we always recommend installing

In fact we have already seen how to use kodi in multiple solutions. From watching HBO Max, Disney +, DAZN, Netflix, Pluto TV and even how to watch DTT or record programs. It can even be used to play games by installing an emulator or using it to access Plex.

Also, Kodi I like because it is highly customizable and can be used on a wide variety of devices, from computers and mobile devices to game consoles and streaming devices. And in all of them we can use and customize Kodi to our liking, from the appropriate screensavers to the entire interface through add-ons or complements and without having to pay a euro.

even and as an example of the versatility and options offered by, we can control Kodi on TV or on the computer using the mobile as a remote control. It is one more example of what Kodi offers.

I have tried this trick to save on heating. It is cheap and you can do it with materials you have at home

A moment ago we saw a method that has gone viral to stop heat loss at home and also cheap, since it uses low-cost materials. We already have the loss controlled but Can home heating be improved?

DIY comes again to help us with our homework and this time with materials that we all have at home. Aluminum foil is the key in a trick that combines it with the radiators at home to help better distribute the heat that comes out of them.

Don’t waste heat on the wall

Because aluminum foil, the one that many of us have been calling Albal paper for years (a brand that manages to associate itself with a product) can be used for more than just storing snacks when we go to the countryside or to keep the flavor of dishes safe and well prepared when we cook them or when we are going to put them in the fridge.

And it is that aluminum foil can be combined with radiators that we have at home in order to improve the performance that these offer and make it unnecessary to have the heating on for so many hours and incidentally we achieve that it is not necessary to raise the temperature of the thermostat.

With this trick, what we achieve is to improve the circulation of heat given off by the radiators at home, managing to increase the temperature by multiplying the heating effect.

This is the solution that you can try and that will also make you spend less, if the heating at home does not work

In order to use this system, we just have to look for some cardboard that we have at home and cover it with aluminum foil. With the cardboard already covered, now all that remains is to place it in the rear area of the radiator and around it. The goal is for it to be between the radiator and the wall.

gain heat

What this system does is redirect heat to another direction in the roomimproving the distribution and increasing the heat sensation of the radiator, since, instead of being lost on the wall, the heat bounces off the Albal paper that covers the cardboard and thus makes it easier for it to spread to other areas of the room.

It’s a kind of mirror effectsimilar to what car headlights can use with lights, only here instead of lighting we are talking about heat.

Thus can improve the feeling of warmth at home and everything, without having to raise the temperature of the heating.
