Windows 11 players, you will be delighted: Microsoft is preparing an artificial intelligence feature that could change everything: Automatic Super Resolution. It allows you to increase the resolution of your screen, especially for games.
Microsoft continues to innovate with Windows 11, its latest operating system. After transforming Notepad into a powerful code explanation tool, the IT giant is preparing another new feature based on artificial intelligence: Automatic Super Resolution.
Windows 11: Automatic Super Resolution risks changing everything for gamers
Automatic Super Resolution, or Auto SR, is a feature that allows you to increase the resolution of your screen using AI. It is mainly aimed at PC players who will be able to benefit from better graphic quality and increased fluidity.
The Auto SR was spotted by insiders (users who test the beta versions of Windows 11) as early as last November. It can be found in the system settings, in the Display > Graphics section. Just activate a button to use it. The description states “ Use AI to make supported games smoother with improved details “.
When you launch a compatible game, a notification appears offering to modify certain settings to take advantage of Auto SR. This feature will be part of the next major Windows 11 update, version 24H2, expected at the end of the year.
Auto SR does not use the graphics card (GPU), but a neural processing unit (NPU), which specializes in AI-related calculations. You can also choose to activate or deactivate Auto SR for each application individually.
Auto SR is not the only new feature planned for Windows 11. We should also see an intermediate update (perhaps called “Moments 5”) arrive in April, which will bring other features and improvements, in the waiting for Windows 12.
